Botswana Explorer (Standard)

Standard 3 to 4 star | 6 Nights, 7 Days | Guided Safari

6 night Botswana Safari starting in Kasane ending in Maun

Conrad’s Review;
This program is a great value for money option. The properties we use offer great game viewing and service for a very competitive price. All the lodges used are situated in prime game viewing locations and offer better game viewing than some more expensive lodges. This program gives you the ideal opportunity to combine the Chobe area with camps in the Okavango Delta that offer you both land based game viewing activities and water based activities. This program allows you to experience 3 diverse areas that encompass some of the best Botswana has to offer.
This program is ideal to combine with the Victoria Falls. I suggest you can start this tour with a stay of 2 nights in Victoria Falls at Illala Lodge (At an additional cost) and go from there to Kasane to start your Botswana program.

Tour Description:

DAY 1 – Arrive in Kasane transfer to Chobe Game Lodge

On arrival at Kasane, you are met by the lodge staff for the short transfer back to the Chobe Game lodge, where you will be staying for two nights.
Chobe River
Chobe National Park lies in the northeast of Botswana, teeming with animals, in particular with huge herds of elephant and buffalo. Chobe's animal migrations follow an ancient pattern, only partly understood by man. However, broadly speaking, the game is drawn to the Chobe River during the dry winter season and spreads out to the open grasslands of the Savute marsh and pans during the wetter summer months. The Chobe/Linyanti river system is known for some of the best elephant viewing in Africa in the winter months (May to October), with huge herds of up to 500 or more at the end of the dry season. Lion are common, and almost expected, with buffalo, cheetah and an amazing variety of antelope often sighted. The river is alive with crocodile and hippo and marvellous birdlife, including kingfishers and bee-eaters. Languorous sunset cruises are a specialty of the area
Chobe Game Lodge - Fully Inclusive
Chobe Game Lodge is an established luxury game lodge of attractive Moorish architecture. It has a superb location - the only permanent lodge within the Chobe National Park. The lodge and attractive pool surrounded by gardens overlooks the perennial Chobe River and Caprivi floodplain. The 46 twin en suite rooms and four suites, with private plunge pools and sun decks, are supremely comfortable and cooled by overhead fans and air-conditioning. A complimentary minibar is provided for your comfort. Unsurpassed wildlife opportunities are offers with guided game-viewing either by vehicle, boat or on foot.

DAY 3 – Charter Flight to Okavango Delta

After your final morning game drive and a sumptuous breakfast, you have a road transfer from your game lodge to Kasane Airport, from where you will flown by charter plane to your next game lodge situated in the Okavango Delta.
Okavango Delta
The Okavango Delta is exceedingly beautiful. A jewel in the middle of the Kalahari Desert, the Okavango Delta is Africa's largest and most beautiful oasis - an isolated, lush green paradise with some of the richest wildlife in the world. The maze of waterways, lagoons, vast grassy plains and palm-fringed and wooded islands is home to crocodile, hippo, elephant, lion, leopard, hyena, giraffe, wild dog, rare antelope and around 400 bird species.
Xugana Island Lodge - Fully Inclusive
Xugana Island Lodge is part of Xugana private concession and is widely accepted as being the most spectacular permanent water site in the entire Okavango Delta with the most fabulous sunsets. Xugana Island Lodge is situated on a wooded island abutting the lagoon and takes full advantage of this magnificent site with an open boma and an alfresco dining area facing an expanse of pristine water. Xugana accommodates just 16 guests in large raised reed and thatch chalets with twin beds, en-suite facilities, with walk-in showers, overhead fans and a private deck, ideal for bird-watching. Xugana's activities revolve around the water and include mokoro trips in dugout canoes, combined with walking on surrounding lagoons and islands in the concession. Motorised boat excursions allow you to explore further into the Delta. Bird-watching opportunities are outstanding and fishing for bream and tiger fish are also offered as activities at the lodge (on a limited basis only).

DAYS 5 - Charter Flight to Okavango Delta (Camp Moremi - Fully Inclusive)

After your final morning activity and a hearty breakfast, you flown by charter plane to your next game lodge situated in the Moremi region of the Okavango Delta.
Moremi Game Reserve
The Moremi Wildlife Reserve is protected tribal land, which forms the eastern boundary of the Okavango Delta. It is often described as one of the most beautiful wildlife reserves in Africa. It combines mopane woodland and acacia forests, floodplains and lagoons and this great diversity of plant life attracts the abundance of animal life for which Moremi is so well known. The largest island in the delta, Chief's Island, is located within the Moremi. The Moremi is famous for its predators, both of the mammal and feathered variety. Please note that night drives and armed game walks are not permitted here (given it is a National Park) but the superb quality of the game-viewing more than makes up for this. Game activities will be mostly land-based in the Moremi.
Camp Moremi, Fully Inclusive
Camp Moremi is shaded by giant ebony trees and overlooks the Xakanaxa Lagoon, the camp offers a diversity of habitat and animal life, which is unrivalled in Botswana. Here where the Okavango meets up with the vast Kalahari desert, ancient Mopane forests, open grassland and seasonal floodplains have formed. Trained resident naturalist guides will share their knowledge and deep love of the wilderness with you on game drives where sightings of wild dog, cheetah, leopard, lion, elephants and buffalo are possible. The famous elevated Moremi Tree Lodge is the stunning focal point of this camp and houses the luxurious main lounge, a wildlife reference library, dining room and cocktail bar, all cooled overhead by fans. Camp Moremi accommodates only 22 safari guests in beautifully furnished East African-style tents.
